A new shared living residential scheme in Birmingham has received the green light from city planners.
Called Bradford Works, it will see the conversion of an existing building in Barr Street in the Jewellery Quarter.
The project will contain 54 self-contained ‘micro-apartments’ with communal spaces including lounges, kitchens, dining areas, workspaces, wellness studio and roof terrace.
It will be aimed at young professionals, post-graduate students and freelancers as well as foster a community feel not usually associated with traditional apartment developments.

It is thought to be the first shared-living project in Birmingham and also the first by developer Cordia UK which is building The Lampworks as well, a development of 148 apartments to rent in nearby Great Hampton Street.
The firm has also recently completed The Gothic apartment block and converted a former TSB branch in the same road to create business space and its own HQ, now called The Bank.
Speaking at an event showcasing the firm’s ongoing projects, Cordia UK’s chief executive Andras Kárpáti said: “We are delighted to have welcomed our partners and stakeholders to The Bank to celebrate these significant milestones.
“From showcasing our thriving commercial hub to marking the foundation stone laying ceremony of The Lampworks and announcing planning consent for Bradford Works, it was a pleasure to share these exciting updates.
“Our ongoing projects will continue to revitalise Great Hampton Street and we look forward to sharing more about Birmingham’s first shared living scheme in the near future.”
